Review: Anchorman

Director: Adam McKay

Starring: Will Ferrell

Year: 2004

Genre: Comedy

Rated: PG-13

Length: 94 min.

IMDB Summary: Ron Burgundy is San Diego's top rated newsman in the male dominated broadcasting of the 1970's, but that's all about to change when a new female employee with ambition to burn arrives in his office.

Review:
I really didn't enjoy this movie. While the acting is decent, I don't see any redeeming value in this film. The slapstick humor is so in-your-face that it's not even funny. The jokes have all been done before. This movie gets a few laughs, but its over-exaggerated take on the news industry and feminism makes it a time-worn ordeal to watch.

For Parents:
There is plenty of innuendo. I'm not opposed to innuendo or even a sex scene in a movie, if it serves a greater purpose. However, the sexual innuendo in Anchorman served no greater purpose and really turned me off.

My Rating:
*
