Review: The Fellowship of the Ring

Director: Peter Jackson

Starring: Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Ian McKellan, Orlando Bloom

Year: 2001

Genre: Action/Adventure

Rated: PG-13

Length: 178 min.

IMDB Summary: An innocent hobbit of The Shire journeys with eight companions to the fires of Mount Doom to destroy the One Ring and the dark lord Sauron forever.

Review:
With insightful directing, talented acting, well-designed sets and epic music, The Fellowship of the Ring skillfully portrays J.R.R. Tolkein's classic. The film draws viewers into Tokein's Middle Earth and maintains suspense throughout the plot. Intense and well-acted, The Fellowship of the Ring is a marvelous start to the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Whether or not viewers have read Tokein's trilogy, this movie is bound to appeal to a wide audience.

For Parents:
There is no crudity or language. The PG-13 rating comes from the fantasy elements--battle scenes, a fight with a cave troll, a fiery monster, ring wraiths, corpses.

My Rating:
*****
