Review: Napoleon Dynamite

Director: Jared & Jerusha Hess

Starring: Jon Heder

Year: 2004

Genre: Comedy

Rated: PG

Length: 148 min.

IMDB Summary: A listless and alienated teenager decides to help his new friend win the class presidency in their small western high school, while he must deal with his bizarre family life back home.

Review:
Here is a cult classic for the 21st century. Weird, wacky and witty, Napoleon Dynamite is a pleasure to watch. The exaggerated characters at Napoleon's home and high school are entertaining. The film's use of irony and sarcasm is a refreshing alternative to the dirty jokes that dominate much of today's comedy. There's not much of a plot, but the characters' quirks are enough to keep the film moving. Zany and clever, Napoleon Dynamite neatly packages and preserves the "cult classic" for future generations.

For Parents:
Very mild crude humor

My Rating:
*****
